Samsung company have officially announced their first TouchWiz PDA phone specially oriented towards finger operation (the i900 model will enter the market a bit later) - the inexpensive i740. We have obtained test samples of the device long before, but due to the obvious reasons we had to keep silent until the official announce. Now it's time to share our initial experiences.
For a budget model (it even lacks Wi-Fi) the model makes an interesting choice. The key points here are the good camera and a powerful CPU - no worse than the top-ranking HTC Touch Diamond has. We were surprised by the device's fast performance, the interface and applications never lagged a bit.
i740 is a navigational PDA running WM 6.0, which possesses a nice design and good-quality materials, close to i710 in this aspect. The face panel is absolutely flad and solid, with no obstacles which might hinder the finger.
The TouchWiz is a finger-adopted WM interface, slightly simpler than the same component TouchFLO found in HTC PDAs. E-TEN, ASUS, Gigabyte are still to present their products with an analogous technology.
Smape.com is the first to publish live photos of Samsung i740. A detailed review will be coming shortly.
