iPhone 3G started selling on July 11 in 21 countries worldwide; over the first three days, more than a million copies of the device were sold, meanwhile the App Store online service sold more than 10 million copies of various applications for iPhone and iPod touch. France has just become the 22nd country to receive shipments of the device.

Hong Kong, China
A year ago, the original iPhone sold in 500 thousand copies over the first three days, and the 1 million threshold was passed only after 74 days had passed. It should be mentioned that the original version of iPhone could only be purchased as part of a packaged deal with AT&T, United States' largest carrier company who obtained exclusive distribution rights fro Apple. In Europe, the original iPhone started selling on November 09 and was distributed by T-Mobile and O2 carriers. During the Christmas shopping fever, about one million copies were sold.

London, Great Britain
Considering that the difference between the original and the new versions of iPhone only consists in availability of GPS and 3G support in the latter, we can state that the current sales are a clear win. The representatives of Apple confirm that the actual interest towards the upgraded iPhone greatly exceeded their expectations... nevertheless, they were well-prepared for the rush: the company hasn't run out of copies yet, dispatching dozens of new deliveries worldwide.

Melbourne, Australia
Apple are planning to sell about 10 million of iPhone 3G copies by the end of the year. The number may end up even larger, considering that the distribution zone will consequentially cover the territory of 70 states.
