During the presentation of HTC Touch Diamond taking place in South Africa, Kevin Chen, General Manager of HTC for MEA (Middle East, Africa) and CIS (Russia, CIS), shared some information about the time of release of the handsets running Google Android and Windows Mobile 7.
According to Mr. Chen’s statements, the Android-based device is already ready to enter the market and will do that by the turn of the year. As for the Windows Mobile 7 devices, they will hit the shelf only next year. Kevin Chen also mentioned that the date of the WM7-based device’s release may be corrected and directly depends on the date of the platform’s release by the Microsoft Company. The new Windows Mobile edition is supposed to feature a tactile command interface, a motion sensor control and a number of other interesting functions.

Kevin Chen has made it clear that HTC view both the companies as equal partners and don’t think it possible to give preference to either of them.
